The Hoboken Dual Language Charter School (HoLa) is an exciting new dual language charter school (Spanish/English) in Hoboken, NJ. HoLa offers a traditional curriculum in an innovative classroom setting that emphasizes the arts and celebrates multiculturalism. The program will open its doors in September 2010, and we are hiring teachers for Kindergarten, the 1st and 2nd grades.

We are seeking exceptional teachers who can deliver high-quality, rigorous instruction in all content areas and can produce high levels of student achievement, both academic and linguistic. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to differentiate instruction for children of different linguistic, cultural and academic backgrounds, as well as for children with different learning styles. Creativity and individuality are highly valued.

Potential hires should also demonstrate the ability to develop daily and unit lesson plans that are innovative, thematic, goal-oriented and aligned with curriculum, and will be expected to participate actively in curriculum development. All teachers must be certified in elementary education, and candidates should possess or be working toward appropriate bilingual/bicultural certification, or have commensurate knowledge and experience. A deep understanding of how literacy develops in a dual language setting is critical, including specific strategies for bilingual language acquisition. Excellent written and verbal language skills in Spanish and/or English are essential. Experience in a dual language education program is preferred.
