Southern Oregon University's Summer Language Institute for Spanish Teachers -- application deadline February 19, 2010
Earn your Master's degree in Spanish Teaching (or Continuing Education credits) in beautiful Guanajuato, Mexico! Join us for a unique, intensive program specifically designed to meet the needs of middle school, high school and community college Spanish teachers. The SLI intensive summer program combines courses on language acquisition and pedagogy with language and culture courses to allow you to improve both your language proficiency and cultural understanding while becoming a better teacher. The MA program can be completed over three summers. Space is limited to 22 students per cohort. Our students are dedicated Spanish teachers who find that studying in the summer is much more productive than taking graduate classes duringthe school year. Comments Laurie Barry, "I have just spent the most amazing three weeks of my life in Guanajuato at SOU's summer institute. Top-notch professors, intense and challenging coursework, and bright, motivated fellow classmates make this program truly special. What I learned this summer has forever changed the way I teach. Guanajuato reminds me of Florence, with its winding narrow streets, friendly people, beautiful churches, good restaurants, and great shopping. The weather is wonderful, with low humidity and breezes even in late July."
